E1: The Story of the Keys

In today’s episode of Burn it Down, Don’t Reno, our hero recounts the story of the keys. <flashback> Since our new exterior doors were installed the extra keys have been in the bay window. The evening of Friday the 26th I dropped by the house and found a notice from the electrical inspector stuck in the door jam. I took the notice, placed it on the kitchen counter and emailed the builder. On Saturday Becky was in the house with the cleaners until late in the afternoon, when she left the keys and notice were still in the house. When she returned Sunday morning to meet the movers, they keys and notice were missing. Becky let me know and I immediately emailed the builder.

The builder didn’t respond until I contacted them again a couple days ago to which their response was basically are you sure the cleaners didn’t take them. We didn’t give the lockbox code to anyone, the cleaners were never alone in the house, the keys were seen when Becky left, there was no evidence of forced entry, but the cleaners did it. On a side note, the lockbox code is written in Sharpe on the inside of the box so I’m guessing it’s never been changed.
