In today’s episode of Burn it Down, Don’t Reno – You’re Not Paranoid If … – Part 2.
I e-mailed Watco (they made our tub fixtures) support asking if the tub overflow plate should spin freely. I heard back that the retaining ring was probably installed backwards and that the teeth should face outward. So I popped off the plate, took off the ring and go figure it was on backwards, once I looked at the ring it was fairly obvious which side was which. When I snapped the plate back in place it was securely held in place.
So, my plumber installed the ring backwards and didn’t notice that the plate spun very freely after he’d installed it. So, what’s your vote, incompetence, negligence, or an intentional act?
